BRINGING HOME YOUR LOVED ONE

Repatriation

Together with an extensive and trusted network of partners, we do national and international repatriation of mortal remains.

We help ease the burden when faced with repatriating a loved one. Thom Kight & Company’s International Division has an extremely experienced team who can assist with the repatriation of mortal remains to and from South Africa and other parts of Africa. If needed, we can travel to other countries to make arrangements from there. We work with an extensive and trusted network of partners across the globe to take care of every detail.

We also embalm and prepare the deceased for repatriation according to strict international standards. This includes embalming the body and placing it in either a metal-lined coffin or insulated thermal bag, properly sealed, for transportation. If, for religious reasons, the body cannot be embalmed, we will obtain documentation from the state health department to allow this.

We will liaise with the relevant embassies, consulates, government departments, health authorities, airlines and international funeral directors in all countries concerned and attend to all required procedures. We can provide private charter flights if required.

For religious rights, in case of Judaism or Muslim if being shipped to certain countries, the State Health Department issues documentation to exclude embalming.

  • Death certificate
  • State health clearance
  • Removal/Burial order
  • Embalming certificate
  • Sworn affidavit
  • Authority of receiving country
  • Customs clearance accreditation
